Year 6 London Trip 2018
On 25th January 2018, Year 6 at The Parks Academy travelled to London. This was a fantastic day and included lots of ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities.
Firstly we all met at 6:30am to catch the train to London. This was an experience in itself for most of the children in the class, who had not been on a train before. We played cards, top trumps, chatted and gossiped.
Once we arrived in London, we had to catch the Underground to the London Eye. This experience was mesmerising and the views at the top of the London Eye was something we will never forget. We could see on top of our next destination, The Houses of Parliament.
We arrived at Parliament not long after and were lucky enough to have a personal tour around the three sections, the commons, the Lords and the Monarchy area. This tour was amazing and we found out lots of information about each area – for example did you know that there are 650 MPs in the House of Commons?
Following this, we had a workshop, within the Houses of Parliament. We split into two sides and had to form what was our own House of Commons. We debated whether we should have a ‘3 day’ school week. We wish!
We then walked from Parliament towards Downing Street and the Changing of the Guard. This was a lovely photo opportunity and meant we could see more fabulous sights.
Finally it was time to return to Kings Cross, but not before a quick stop to the gift shop to get those all-important ‘goodies’ to bring home.
A fantastic, long, exhilarating day trip that the children of Year 6 will never forget.
